The discussions focused on digital payments, financial services, and ways to make it easier for people to send money between India and Canada. For the second consecutive month, FPIs were net buyers with an investment of Rs 20,200 crore ($2.123 billion) in July. FM Sitharaman on Wednesday met senior executives of various Canadian financial firms, including Sun Life Financial and the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB), urging them to enhance their India investment amid the country's rapid economic growth.During a bilateral meeting with Sun Life Financial President and CEO Kevin D Strain in Toronto, FM Sitharaman highlighted the liberalisation of India's insurance sector, including the increase in the foreign direct investment (FDI) Bank of Baroda launched "UPI Global QR Payments" (UPI Global Reverse Acceptance) for international tourists, overseas Indians, and foreign wallet or payment application users from eligible countries, allowing them to make payments across the bank's UPI QR merchant network in India.International visitors can now make QR payments at BoB's UPI QR merchants using their own home-country banking or pay-ment applications. The initiative is expected to reduce the need for visitors to carry cash or exchange foreign currency, offering a more convenient payment experience while travelling in India. Online payment frauds are rising sharply as India's digital payments infrastructure helps millions of users make transactions faster and 24,090.85, slipping below the key 24,100 level.
