The second edition of the list of the 500 most valuable firms in India, called the "2023 Burgundy Private Hurun India 500," reveals that at least 31 of the country's most valuable enterprises, with a combined value of Rs 14.7 trillion, are from Gujarat.
Based on market capitalization for listed firms and valuations for non-listed companies, these companies are rated based on their value.
Gujarat's most valuable company is Adani Enterprises, valued at Rs 2.6 trillion; it is followed by Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone, valued at Rs 1.7 trillion, and Adani Green Energy, valued at Rs 1.4 trillion.
With a combined valuation of Rs 9.9 trillion, the eight Adani Group companies make up 4.3% of the value of the top 500 corporations. The Adani Group companies' worth dropped by 50%, or Rs 9,92,953 crore, over the evaluation period.
However, as of January 17, 2024, Adani Group had regained $4,72,636 crore in value following the Supreme Court's decision in favour of the Adani Group regarding the Adani-Hindenberg case, which was rendered after the review period.
The largest number of entries from Gujarat are in the healthcare sector, with Torrent Pharmaceuticals leading the pack with a valuation of Rs 65,332 crore, followed by Intas Pharmaceuticals at Rs 61,900 crore and Zydus Lifesciences at Rs 58,733 crore.
Energy has the second place with five firms, while Chemicals and Consumer Goods each have four participants.
Top Employers for Women: Welspun India is at the top with 3,611 women working there, followed by Zydus Lifesciences at 1,064 and Torrent Pharmaceuticals at 1,156.

Big 3: ITC is the most valuable firm in West Bengal, valued at Rs 5,36,811 crore. Britannia Industries is second, valued at Rs 1,07,466 crore, and Shree Cement is third, valued at Rs 93,606 crore.
