Even as digital lending accelerates, Finsol Connect believes technology must be supported by strong execution on the ground

India’s car-loan ecosystem is becoming increasingly competitive, digital and geographically diverse. While lenders continue to strengthen their retail portfolios, reaching customers efficiently across smaller cities and semi-urban markets remains a practical challenge. Establishing extensive physical infrastructure is not always commercially viable, while the intermediary landscape itself can be highly fragmented. This creates a growing need for organised distribution networks that can connect lenders with customers while bringing greater consistency, process discipline and transparency to loan sourcing.
Finsol Connect is addressing this gap by building an organised retail-finance distribution infrastructure supported by experienced professionals, local market presence and technology. Established in 2022 with an initial focus on auto finance, the company has expanded rapidly across India. Within four years, it has built on-ground presence in 105 towns and reached customers across more than 700 towns. Its auto-loan sourcing has grown from approximately ₹64 crore in its first year to ₹2,150 crore in its fourth year, reflecting both the scale of the opportunity and the strength of its distribution-led approach.
Turning Retail Finance Experience into Distribution Strength
Finsol Connect’s foundation draws heavily on its promoters’ experience in retail lending and financial distribution. The Founder Director’s earlier roles across car loans and home loans, including experience with Kotak and Lloyds Finance, provided a close understanding of how retail lending works at the customer, intermediary and institutional levels. The copromoter’s experience in the DSA ecosystem further strengthened this understanding of the trade.
The entrepreneurial motivation was rooted in a clear market observation. While banks and financial institutions wanted to reach customers across a much wider geography, creating their own infrastructure in every rural and semi-urban market was not always feasible. At the same time, a large part of the intermediary ecosystem remained fragmented and relatively unorganised.
Finsol Connect therefore envisioned itself as a professional distribution bridge between lenders, automobile dealers, sourcing agents, connectors and customers. Its original strategy was straightforward: establish trained sales infrastructure across as many markets as possible and progressively digitise that network.

Scaling through People, Partnerships and Local Knowledge
One of Finsol Connect’s most consequential early decisions was bringing senior retail-finance professionals from established organisations on board as Regional Directors. Their knowledge of local markets, networks and lending practices gave the company a foundation for geographic expansion. Gujarat, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh were among the prominent automobile markets where teams were established during the first year.
Its lender ecosystem expanded alongside this physical footprint. What began with a single PSU bank relationship progressed to partnerships with multiple PSU banks by 2024. Yet Finsol Connect's growth philosophy has placed as much importance on internal culture as external expansion.
The Founder Director, Shridhar Shigehalli spent extensive time travelling across regions and working alongside Regional Directors, team leaders and sales personnel. The objective was to create self-driven teams rather than a high-pressure sales culture. Transparency with channel partners and timely fulfilment of commitments, including payments, became important elements of maintaining accountability across the distributed network.

Recruitment itself has been deliberately market-oriented. When identifying senior regional professionals, the leadership evaluated candidates not simply through interviews, but by accompanying them into their markets, observing their networks and understanding how dealers, intermediaries and field stakeholders responded to them. This process demanded patience and, at times, repeated visits before the right leadership was established.
Combining Ground-Level Execution with Technology
Even as digital lending accelerates, Finsol Connect believes technology must be supported by strong execution on the ground. Teams receive hands-on training in loan processes and documentation, with Regional Heads and banking partners spending time with field personnel to improve service consistency and operational efficiency.
“The company has also introduced technology enablers such as CRM systems to strengthen internal efficiency. This combination of local sales capability, call centres, dealer and connector relationships, lender partnerships and process training allows Finsol Connect to operate across markets without losing sight of the customer experience”, shares Shridhar Shigehalli.
For the company, digitisation is therefore not about replacing its distribution network, but making that network more productive, structured and scalable.
From Auto Finance to a Broader Retail Lending Platform
Finsol Connect sees technology-enabled lending as the next major evolution of retail finance. With lenders and fintech companies already developing digital journeys, the company is preparing to launch its own technology platform for intermediaries, including a rule engine designed to facilitate lending more efficiently through the distribution ecosystem. "The platform will operate under a separate domain within the broader Finsol Connect Umbrella and build on the company’s existing geographic reach. Finsol Connect expects to bring thousands of intermediaries onto the platform across markets and lending categories”, adds Shridhar Shigehalli.
This will also support its transition beyond car loans into home loans, two-wheeler loans, commercial vehicle and construction equipment financing, MSME loans and other retail credit products. By combining its established distribution infrastructure with a more technology-driven operating model, Finsol Connect is positioning its next phase around a larger ambition: creating an organised, scalable bridge between India’s lenders, intermediaries and increasingly diverse retail borrowers.
