Anant and Radhika Wedding: Beyonce at Rs 33 crores, Maroon 5 at Rs 8-12 crores, and more

Finance Outlook India Team | Friday, 01 March 2024

Prepare to be envious as Rihanna attends the Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant wedding in a private performance, transforming the three-day pre-wedding celebration at the Ambani Estate in Gujarat's Jamnagar into a star-studded occasion. This extravagant affair, scheduled for March 1–3, precedes the ceremonial nuptials in July. Anant Ambani, the youngest son of Reliance chairman Mukesh Ambani, is marrying Radhika Merchant, the daughter of pharmaceutical billionaire Viren Merchant.

The guest list reads like a who's who of the global elite, with not only Bollywood's top stars but also tech titans like Bill Gates (Microsoft), Mark Zuckerberg (Meta), Disney CEO Bob Iger, Ivanka Trump, Qatar Premier Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, and Bhutan's royal couple.

Apart from Rihanna's anticipated performance, the distinguished guests will be treated to exciting performances by Arijit Singh, Diljit Dosanjh, Pritam, Hariharan, and Ajay-Atul during the sumptuous event. This is not the first time the Ambanis have gone to great lengths to get world-renowned musicians to their family weddings, resulting in spectacular moments.

Let's look at the amazing lineup of international performers and the large sums spent on their exclusive appearances.

    Rihanna:

The remuneration for Rihanna's appearances at private events, including Radhika Merchant and Anant Ambani's functions, is unknown. Despite the hidden sum, industry outlets have estimated a range of the musician's typical fees for such elite occasions. According to these estimates, Rihanna regularly charges between $1.5 million (Rs 12 crore) and $8 million (Rs 66 crore) for her involvement in private events.

    Beyoncé:

The Queen Bey herself visited Udaipur in 2018 for Isha Ambani and Anand Piramal's sangeet ceremony, igniting the stage with her historic performance. Beyoncé's appearance, together with two breathtaking ensembles by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla and Falguni and Shane Peacock, made it an unforgettable night, with a reported cost of over $4 million (Rs 33 crore).

    Christopher Martin:

Coldplay's Chris Martin performed at Akash Ambani and Shloka Mehta's winter wonderland-themed pre-wedding event in St Moritz, dazzling guests with the band's best hits. While the actual amount is unknown, Celebrity Talent Information lists Martin's base booking charge for private concerts as $9,999 (about Rs 8 lakh).

    Maroon Five:

In 2019, Adam Levine led Maroon 5 at Akash Ambani and Shloka Mehta's Mangal Parv ceremony in Mumbai. The band reportedly charged $1-1.5 million (Rs 8 crore - Rs 12 crore) for an exciting performance that had everyone dancing to their songs.
