The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has released its bank holidays in August, listing 14 days on which banks across the country will remain shut, including scheduled Saturdays and Sundays. Both public and private sector banks will observe these closures.

Weekend Bank Closures in August 2026
Besides the state-specific and national holidays, banks will remain closed on all Sundays which is on August 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30, as well as on the second and fourth Saturdays, falling on August 8 and August 22 in line with standard RBI rules.
Online Banking Services Remain Unaffected
Even on days when physical bank branches are closed, essential digital banking services will continue to function normally across the country. ATMs, UPI, and mobile and internet banking will remain operational unless specific maintenance downtime is announced.

Customers can also continue to use NEFT and RTGS transfer requests, demand draft applications, and chequebook request forms during this period. Additional services including credit, debit and ATM card facilities, locker applications, standing instruction setups and account maintenance paperwork will also remain accessible despite branch closures.
With multiple regional festivals falling in August, customers in specific states are advised to plan branch-related banking work in advance to avoid inconvenience, while digital banking channels remain available throughout the month.
