India’s finance updates today are dominated by September-quarter earnings, corporate announcements and concerns over elevated crude oil prices. Indian Hotels Company, KEI Industries and PC Jeweller are among the companies attracting attention following their quarterly results, while Bharat Electronics has announced additional orders worth Rs 1,011 crore. Meanwhile, the Reserve Bank of India’s latest monetary policy minutes have highlighted concerns about inflation and the possibility of further interest rate increases.
Indian Hotels Raises FY27 Revenue Growth Guidance
Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), the Tata Group’s hospitality business, reported strong September-quarter results and raised its full-year FY27 revenue growth guidance to 15–17%, compared with its earlier guidance of 12–14%.
Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Puneet Chhatwal said the company expected to reach 700 hotels in its portfolio during FY27, ahead of its earlier 2030 target. The company had signed 47 hotels during the financial year up to September, taking its portfolio to 670 hotels. Puneet Chhatwal said that they are looking forward to management giving revised development guidance on Accelerate 2030, middle of November.
The company reported approximately 23% year-on-year growth in net profit to Rs 349 crore, while revenue increased around 21% to Rs 2,566 crore. Strong domestic demand, social events, meetings and conferences, and new hotel openings are expected to support its growth outlook. IHCL has also approved an all-stock merger with associate company Oriental Hotels, a move intended to simplify its corporate structure and support future expansion.
KEI Industries Reports 29% Profit Growth
KEI Industries, a manufacturer of wires and cables, reported a 29% year-on-year increase in net profit to approximately Rs 262.5 crore for Q2 FY27. Revenue climbed 38.5% to Rs 3,776.4 crore, supported by growth in its domestic wires and cables business.
Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation increased to approximately Rs 401 crore from Rs 312 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. However, its EBITDA margin narrowed to 10.62% from 11.43%, reflecting cost pressures despite higher sales.
Domestic wires and cables revenue rose approximately 46% to Rs 3,184 crore, while exports of wires and cables increased to Rs 455 crore. KEI reported a pending order book of around Rs 5,185 crore at the end of September.
The results highlight continued demand in the wires and cables market, although rising material costs and margin trends remain important indicators for investors assessing the company’s profitability.
PC Jeweller Net Profit Jumps 58%
PC Jeweller reported a 58% year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit to approximately Rs 331.1 crore for the September quarter. Revenue increased 27.8% to Rs 1,054.5 crore, according to the latest earnings figures.
The performance places the jewellery retailer among the companies drawing attention during the ongoing Q2 FY27 earnings season. Investors will continue to monitor revenue growth, profitability and demand trends in the jewellery market, where gold prices, consumer spending and seasonal purchases can influence performance.
The company’s results also come amid increased investor activity in its shares. Market participants will be watching how the company sustains earnings growth and manages its financial position in subsequent quarters.
Bharat Electronics Receives Additional Orders Worth Rs 1,011 Crore
Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a defence electronics manufacturer, announced additional orders worth Rs 1,011 crore since October 13. The orders cover a range of defence and electronic systems, including improved low-level light-weight radar, communication equipment, sonar systems, jammers, upgrades, spares and services.
The development strengthens the company’s order pipeline and keeps the defence manufacturing sector in focus. Investors typically monitor new defence contracts for indications of future revenue visibility, execution requirements and demand for domestically manufactured equipment.
BEL’s performance also reflects the importance of government procurement and defence modernisation programmes for Indian defence-sector companies. The financial impact of the new orders will depend on execution schedules and the timing of revenue recognition.

In the previous session on Wednesday, October 21, the Sensex declined 143.21 points to close at 73,709.69, while the Nifty 50 fell 77.60 points to 22,811.35. Selling in banking, financial and power stocks weighed on the benchmarks after an initially stronger opening.
Investors will return to the market with corporate earnings, oil prices, currency movements and international developments remaining important factors for the next session.
RBI Minutes Signal Concerns About Further Inflation
The minutes of the Reserve Bank of India’s latest Monetary Policy Committee meeting indicate that policymakers remain concerned about inflation and may consider further interest rate increases if price pressures persist.
The MPC unanimously raised the repo rate by 25 basis points to 5.50% earlier this month and adopted a calibrated tightening stance. The September retail inflation rate of 5.54% was close to the RBI’s upper tolerance limit of 6%.
However, policymakers differ over the pace of additional tightening. Some favour a measured response that considers the impact on economic growth, while others believe inflation risks may require more proactive action.
For businesses and borrowers, the interest rate outlook matters because higher borrowing costs can affect loan demand, investment decisions and consumer spending. Investors will closely monitor subsequent inflation readings and the RBI’s assessment of growth and price stability.
Rupee Gains as Jio IPO-Related Inflows Support Sentiment
The Indian rupee strengthened to around Rs 94.46 against the US dollar at Wednesday’s close, supported by foreign-currency flows associated with the Jio Platforms IPO and measures taken by the RBI.
The currency’s recovery has offered some relief after recent weakness. However, its outlook remains sensitive to crude oil prices, global dollar movements and foreign investment flows.
A stronger rupee can help moderate the cost of imported commodities, including oil, while reducing some pressure on companies with dollar-denominated expenses. However, continued volatility in international energy markets could limit further gains. Since domestic exchanges are closed today, the latest reported closing rate provides the most recent reference point for currency-market developments.
Crude Oil Above US$110 Raises Inflation Concerns
Crude oil prices above US$110 per barrel remain a significant concern for India’s economic outlook. Rising prices have been linked to escalating geopolitical tensions and fears of potential supply disruptions in the Middle East.
India imports a substantial share of its crude oil requirements, making the economy vulnerable to sustained increases in international energy prices. Higher oil costs can increase the import bill, put pressure on the rupee and add to inflationary pressures.
Oil-sensitive sectors, including aviation, paints, chemicals and transportation, may face higher input costs if elevated prices persist. Investors are therefore monitoring developments in global energy markets alongside company earnings and monetary policy signals.
Investors Track Foreign Flows and Upcoming Corporate Earnings
Foreign investment activity and the September-quarter earnings season remain important drivers of sentiment in Indian financial markets.
Investors are monitoring results from companies across banking, technology, consumer businesses, manufacturing and renewable energy to assess whether earnings growth can support stock valuations. Management commentary on demand, margins, capital expenditure and future business conditions will also influence expectations.
Foreign portfolio investment flows, global bond yields and the rupee’s performance remain important indicators of international investor sentiment. With Indian markets closed for Dussehra, the latest corporate announcements and economic developments are likely to shape expectations ahead of the next trading session.
Market Outlook
India’s finance updates on October 22 is led by strong quarterly performances from Eternal, Indian Hotels, KEI Industries and PC Jeweller, alongside fresh defence orders for Bharat Electronics. IHCL’s improved revenue guidance highlight opportunities in hospitality, while KEI Industries’ results underline demand in the wires and cables market.
At the broader economic level, inflation concerns, the RBI’s tightening stance, elevated crude oil prices and rupee movements remain central to the market outlook. Investors will continue assessing these developments as the Q2 FY27 earnings season progresses.
