Pratyush Sinha, a former chief vigilance officer and retired IAS officer, has been appointed to chair Sebi's high-level committee (HLC) on conflict of interest, disclosures, and other issues involving the regulatory body's members and officials. According to a Sebi release, Injeti Srinivas, Uday Kotak, G Mahalingam, Sarit Jafa, and R Narayanaswamy are among the other members of the committee.
Sebi authorized the creation of a committee to carry out a comprehensive examination of the rules governing conflicts of interest, property declarations, investments, liabilities, and other issues involving the regulator's board members and officials during its board meeting on March 24.
The HLC will review Sebi's existing policies and frameworks governing conflict of interest, disclosures, and related matters to identify any gaps or ambiguities, according to the release. It will also recommend a strong framework for preventing, mitigating, and managing conflicts of interest, such as a recusal policy, disclosure requirements for public disclosures, provisions governing investment restrictions, the maintenance of digital records, and a monitoring framework.
The HLC will also recommend a mechanism for members of the public to raise concerns about conflicts of interest and disclosures, as well as a complaint-review process. The panel will also be free to investigate any other related issues "as deemed appropriate," according to the release.
