Amidst mounting inventory problems in the automotive sector and declining sales, Maruti Suzuki announced on Monday that certain variations of two cars will have their prices reduced.
S-Presso LXI Petrol was once sold for Rs 5.01 lakh (ex-showroom), however as of right now, that price has been lowered by Rs 2,000.
In the meantime, Rs 6,500 has been taken from the Alto K10 VXI Petrol's pricing. Priced between Rs 3.99 lakh and Rs 5.96 lakh is the Alto K10 series.
Maruti Suzuki said that overall car sales for August 2024 decreased by 3.9% to 181,782 units from 189,082 units in the same month the previous year. In August, the business sold 26,003 units overseas and 145,570 units domestically.
The small and compact classes had a sharp reduction in sales, with sales dropping from 84,660 units in August 2023 to 68,699 units. This decline is mostly responsible for the total sales decline.
Domestic passenger car sales decreased last month; Maruti Suzuki sold 143,075 vehicles, compared to 156,114 in August 2023.
"Our focus has been that our channel partners are able to have a reasonably healthy stock to sell the vehicles, so we are continuously trying to break the stocks down," stated Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer (Marketing & Sales) at Maruti Suzuki India (MSI).
