Motilal Oswal Financial Services launched the #YehConHai campaign to assist investors in identifying and avoiding scams. The organization has removed over 15,000 fake posts, videos, and apps, but it continues to fight fraudulent activity.
The #YehConHai campaign features three films that depict real-life scenarios in which scammers impersonate Motilal Oswal employees, including the group chairman, Raamdeo Agrawal. The campaign aims to educate investors on scams and promote safe financial practices.
Sandeep Walunj, group chief marketing officer at MOFSL, stated, "While we have been doing significant work in taking down fake/fraud posts, we felt potential victims should also be included in our efforts. Visual work assists investors in understanding the methods used by scammers and prepares them to deal with such attempts much more effectively. A sting operation was the innovative solution we devised internally for this purpose."
According to the press release, in 2024, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) reported bank frauds totaling Rs 139.3 billion, emphasizing the importance of investor vigilance. Motilal Oswal's #YehConHai campaign aims to teach investors how to identify and avoid scams.
The campaign's research has identified key red flags that investors should be aware of when approached by potential fraudsters:
• Pressure to act fast or make snap decisions.
• Promises of guaranteed returns.
• Promises of instant or extremely fast profits.
• Requests to transfer funds to a separate, non-official account.
As part of the campaign, Motilal Oswal Financial Services has created channels for investors to verify the authenticity of claims and individuals. To ensure financial safety, investors should email fraudcheck@motilaloswal.com or WhatsApp 97690 29197
