State Bank of India (SBI) has announced that it will shut down its mCASH sending and claiming facility on the OnlineSBI and YONO Lite platforms effective from November 30, 2025. After that date, customers will no longer be able to send money using mCASH or receive and claim funds via the mCASH link or app.
Key Highlights
- SBI will discontinue its mCASH service after November 30, 2025, urging customers to switch platforms.
- Customers must use UPI, IMPS, NEFT, or RTGS for future transfers once mCASH support ends.
Under mCASH, SBI account holders could transfer funds without adding the recipient as a beneficiary. They only needed the person’s mobile number or email ID. The recipient would then get a secure link and an 8-digit passcode (via SMS or email) to claim the money. Once claimed, the money could be moved to any bank account, and users could save favorite IFSCs/accounts for future claims.
With mCASH being discontinued, SBI is recommending alternative digital payment methods. The bank is urging users to migrate to UPI, particularly through its BHIM SBI Pay app, as well as to IMPS, NEFT, or RTGS for sending money to third-party beneficiaries. According to SBI’s announcement, these secure options are to be used for all future fund transfers.
SBI’s decision appears to be part of a broader push to retire older payment technologies and align more closely with modern, widely used payment rails. The bank has publicly communicated details of the phase-out through its official announcements page, noting that mCASH (sending & claiming) will no longer be supported after the cutoff date.

For customers who frequently used mCASH, State Bank of India’s advice is clear: complete any pending mCASH claims before November 30, get familiar with the suggested alternatives, and begin transitioning to UPI, IMPS, NEFT, or RTGS to ensure seamless fund transfers once mCASH is discontinued.
