    Sensex Opens 600 Points Lower, while Nifty Falls Below the 23,000 Mark

    Sensex, Nifty50 Today: The stock market opened in the red on Monday, January 27, 2025, with mid and small cap financial services, media, and consumer durables leading the decline.

    At 9.30 a.m. IST, the benchmark BSE Sensex was down 600 points. The broader NSE Nifty fell 175.70 points, or 0.76%, to 22,916.50.

    Which stocks have fallen the most?

    Among the 30 Sensex stocks, Zomato Ltd fell the most by 2.66% to ₹210.05. IndusInd Bank Ltd fell 1.97% to ₹931.70, while Tata Motors Ltd dropped 1.70% to ₹721.40.

    Only four of the 30 Sensex stocks were in the green, including Hindustan Unilever Ltd, Asian Paints Ltd, and ITC Ltd.

    How did each sector perform?

    Among the Nifty sectoral indices, the Nifty Midsmall Financial Services Index fell the most, 2.08%, to 14,815.10, followed by Nifty Media, which fell 2%, to 1,610.45, and Nifty Consumer Durables, which fell 1.66% to 37,405.70.

    The media index fell the most at last week's close.

    How did the stock market perform during the previous session?

    The stock market fell after trading ended for the week on Friday, January 24, 2025, with media, mid and small cap healthcare, and real estate stocks leading the way.

    The benchmark BSE Sensex closed 329.92 points, or 0.43% lower, at 76,190.46. The broader NSE Nifty fell 113.15 points, or 0.49%, to 23,092.20.

    Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd fell the most among the 30 Sensex stocks, closing at ₹2,801.00, a 2.92% drop. Zomato Ltd fell 2.75% to ₹215.80, while Tata Motors Ltd dropped 2.48% to ₹733.90.

    Only ten of the thirty Sensex stocks were in the green.

    The Nifty Media Index fell the most (2.60%), closing at 1,643.40, followed by Nifty Midsmall Healthcare (2.37%), reaching 40,773.75, and Nifty Realty (2.31%), reaching 853.55.

    Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd fell 3.44%, Network 18 Media & Investments Ltd fell 3.27%, and Saregama India Ltd fell 3.16%, driving the media index down.

    Meanwhile, Syngene International Ltd fell 5.97%, Mankind Pharma Ltd fell 5.05%, and IPCA Laboratories Ltd fell 4.43%, driving the Midsmall Healthcare index down.

    Prestige Real Estate Projects Ltd fell 7.64%, Sobha Ltd fell 7.53%, and Oberoi Realty Ltd fell 3.43%, driving the Realty index down.
