N. Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, announced that the Tata Group will provide ₹1 crore to the families of each person who died in the air crash. In a recent statement, Chandrasekaran stated that the group will cover the medical expenses of those injured in the crash.
On June 12, at 1:39 p.m., Air India flight AI-171 from Ahmedabad to London crashed immediately after takeoff.
"Tata Group will provide ₹1 crore to the families of each person who died in the tragedy. We will also pay for those injured's medical bills and provide them with all necessary care and support. In addition, we will provide assistance in the construction of the B J Medical hostel." Chandrasekaran said, "We are unwavering in our support of the impacted families and communities during this unthinkable time."
"The tragic events involving Air India Flight 171 have deeply saddened us. At this moment, words cannot adequately convey our sorrow."The families who have lost loved ones and the injured are in our thoughts and prayers," he continued.

Campbell Wilson, the CEO of Air India, had earlier issued a video statement. "I want to convey how deeply we are saddened by this incident. All of us at Air India are having a tough day, and we are now concentrating only on meeting the needs of our passengers, crew, their families, and loved ones," Wilson said.
Twelve crew members and 230 passengers were on the doomed flight. The flight carried 169 Indians, 53 British, seven Portuguese, and one Canadian national.
Wilson did not reveal the number of casualties. "Local authorities have taken injured passengers to the nearest hospitals. We are actively collaborating with the authorities on all emergency response efforts," Wilson stated.
