India's top insurers, including LIC and Bajaj Allianz, have announced that they have streamlined the claim settlement process for victims of the Air India plane crash, which shocked the world on Thursday.
Both LIC and Bajaj Allianz have stated that they have relaxed the requirements for documents used to settle claims for Air India plane crash victims.
LIC makes announcement for Air India plane crash victims
The Life Insurance Corporation of India expressed its condolences on Friday to the victims of the plane crash and those who died on the ground as a result of it.
"LIC of India expresses deep grief over the death of on-board passengers and crew members of Air India flight Al 171 and also people on the ground who were killed due to the plane crash in Ahmedabad," according to a statement issued by the business on Friday.
"LIC of India is committed to supporting those affected and will expedite claim settlements to provide financial relief," according to the statement.
In the absence of death certificates, India's largest insurer has stated that it will accept any evidence of a policyholder's death in government records, as well as any compensation paid by appropriate authorities.
"LIC of India has announced numerous concessions to alleviate the hardships of LIC policyholders. In lieu of death certificates, any evidence in government records of the policyholder's death as a result of the plane crash, or any compensation paid by the Central/State Government/Airline Authorities, will be accepted as proof of death," according to the company.
All efforts will be made to contact claimants and settle claims as soon as possible for the affected families, the statement read.
LIC advised claimants to contact their nearest branch, division, or customer zone, or call its call centre at 02268276827.

Bajaj Allianz relaxed claim settlement norms
Bajaj Allianz expressed sympathy to the families of the Ahmedabad plane crash victims and announced a streamlined claim settlement process for policyholders.
"For quicker assistance, we have setup a Simplified Claim Settlement Process for Bajaj Allianz Life Policyholders," according to the statement.
The insurer relaxed policy claim submission guidelines and simplified the required documents. Claimants need to submit;
- Certificate / Evidence from a government authority, aviation authority, or hospital official confirming death as a result of an air crash.
- Claim Intimation Form with Bank Details (NEFT Mandate Form attested by Bank Authorities, Cancelled Cheque, or Bank Account Passbook).
- Nominee / Beneficiary KYC Documents
On Thursday, an Air India Boeing 787-8 aircraft bound for London crashed into a medical college complex shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad's Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, killing 241 of the 242 people on board.
The flight carried 169 Indians, 53 British nationals, seven Portuguese nationals, and one Canadian.
