The Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) has decided against charging car admission. According to a credible story, sources indicated that the Bial canceled its intentions to impose an entry charge for arrival pickups on Monday in response to driver protests, passenger pushback, and extensive internet condemnation. Cab drivers had also intended to protest the decision on May 22 by marching from Begur Road to the arrival pickup location and calling for the policy to be reversed.
Beginning on May 20, the BIAL charged an admission fee for both private and business cars.
A source close to BIAL claims that cars utilizing the arrival pick-up lanes at Terminals 1 and 2 were subject to fees for remaining and overstaying. Cabs and other commercial vehicles classified as yellow board vehicles had to pay an admission fee of Rs 150 for a maximum of seven minutes. The cost would have climbed to Rs 300 after seven minutes. Private whiteboard cars have to pay Rs 150 for stays more than seven minutes, up to fourteen minutes.
Buses had to pay an admission charge of Rs 600, while tempo travelers had to pay Rs 300. At Terminal 1, buses and tempo travelers were allowed to enter through lane three. The sudden, notice-free introduction of entrance fees at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) on Sunday caused pandemonium.
The article reported a source as saying, "The introduction of the pay and use zone at the KIA arrival zones will facilitate traffic flow, while enhanced security measures will prevent issues like haphazard parking and unattended vehicles in Terminal 1 and 2 arrival zones."
The newly implemented taxes, according to a Bial source cited in the newspaper, would only affect cars entering the airport's arrival zones; app-based aggregators like Ola and Uber, which function inside certain zones, will be unaffected.Similarly, as Meru Cabs, Mega Cabs, and airport taxis operated by the Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) already pay separate fees to Bali, they were also released from these costs.
The notice at Bengaluru airport says, "Vehicles left unattended and those left over for more than fifteen minutes will be towed to the closest police station at the owner's expense."
