Delhi’s Budget for 2026-27 has been presented with a total outlay of ₹1,03,700 crore, marking a 3.7% increase over last year’s ₹1 lakh crore allocation.

A major highlight is the strong push toward infrastructure, with nearly 30% of the budget (₹30,799 crore) earmarked for capital expenditure, including roads, housing, drainage, and urban development projects.
Education continues to receive the largest share at around 18.6%, reaffirming Delhi’s focus on public schooling and skill development. Healthcare, transport, water supply, and energy are also key focus areas aimed at improving urban living standards.
The government has positioned this as a “Green Budget,” allocating about 21% of total spending toward environmental initiatives such as pollution control, clean energy, and sustainability programs.
In terms of civic infrastructure, ₹11,266 crore has been allocated to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) to strengthen urban services and green initiatives.

Sector-specific boosts include a sharp rise in tourism funding to ₹412 crore (up from ₹121 crore) and ₹173 crore for cultural initiatives, highlighting efforts to boost the city’s tourism economy.
The budget also introduces welfare measures such as free LPG cylinders for eligible families and new healthcare schemes like neonatal screening programs. Additionally, ₹1,500 crore has been allocated for cleaning the Yamuna, underlining the government’s environmental priorities.
