Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday presented the Maharashtra Budget for FY2026-27, unveiling a development-focused fiscal roadmap with major welfare initiatives for farmers, women, and infrastructure. The budget includes key announcements such as a farm loan waiver of up to ₹2 lakh, continuation of the flagship Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana, and fresh investments in infrastructure and technology-driven agriculture.
A major highlight of the budget is the Punyashlok Ahilyabai Holkar Farmers’ Loan Waiver Scheme, under which crop loans of up to ₹2 lakh will be waived, offering relief to lakhs of farmers struggling with debt. The government also announced incentives for farmers who repay loans on time, reinforcing financial discipline in the agriculture sector.

We is committed to strengthening the rural economy and ensuring financial stability for farmers while accelerating growth and investment across sectors
The budget also confirmed the continuation of the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana, a welfare programme aimed at supporting women financially and improving their economic participation. The scheme has emerged as one of the government’s flagship initiatives to strengthen social security and empower women across Maharashtra.

Alongside welfare measures, the government highlighted the state’s strong economic outlook. According to the Maharashtra Economic Survey 2025-26, the state’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) is projected to grow by around 7.9%, slightly higher than the national growth estimate of 7.4%. The services sector is expected to lead growth at about 9%, while agriculture growth may moderate to around 3.4%.
Infrastructure development remains another major focus area in the budget. The government announced plans for a ₹23,000-crore underground Metro Line 11 project connecting Wadala to the Gateway of India with an extension to Dharavi, aimed at easing congestion and improving urban mobility in Mumbai.
Maharashtra, India’s largest state economy, continues to play a critical role in the country’s growth trajectory, contributing nearly 20% of India’s industrial output. With the new budget prioritizing welfare, infrastructure, and investment, the state government aims to accelerate economic expansion while providing relief to key sectors such as agriculture and social welfare.
