dmodot Secures Rs 1.35 Cr Funding on JioHotStar Pitch to Get Rich

Finance Outlook India Team | Friday, 07 November 2025

Delhi-based handcrafted luxury footwear brand dmodot, founded by designer-entrepreneur Abhishek Sharma, has successfully secured ₹1.35 crore in funding for a 30% equity stake, valuing the company at ₹4.5 crore, on JioHotstar’s flagship business reality series ‘Pitch to Get Rich’.

The investment marks a major milestone for India’s homegrown Quiet Luxury movement, as dmodot becomes one of the first handcrafted footwear brands to attract national attention — and capital — on an OTT platform.

Luxury That Doesn’t Shout — Now Backed by Investors:

Abhishek Sharma’s compelling pitch impressed the show’s celebrity investor panel, which included Akshay Kumar, Karan Johar, Manish Malhotra, and Malaika Arora. His brand, dmodot, stood out for its handcrafted heritage, ethical sourcing, and modern design sensibility, showcasing how Indian artisanship can scale as a viable, profitable business model.

The funding comes as a strategic growth boost for dmodot, enabling the brand to:

    • Expand its retail and online footprint across Tier-1 cities in India.
    • Launch an international capsule collection representing “Quiet Luxury, Made in India.”
    • Strengthen its artisan network and implement sustainable production processes.
    • Invest in marketing, e-commerce technology, and new product development.

“This isn’t just a deal; it’s a validation of India’s craftsmanship,” said Abhishek Sharma, Founder & CEO of dmodot. “Securing ₹1.35 crore for a 30% stake at a ₹4.5 crore valuation on Pitch to Get Rich reaffirms that ‘Quiet Luxury’ — rooted in design, authenticity, and craftsmanship — has massive potential in India’s modern retail space.”

Bollywood Meets Business: The New Face of Fashion Entrepreneurship

Produced by Dharmatic Entertainment in association with Fashion Entrepreneur Fund (FEF), Pitch to Get Rich is India’s first reality show blending fashion, business, and entertainment — with an impressive ₹40 crore investment pool.

The show provides a platform for visionary founders like Abhishek Sharma to present their business models to a panel of investors and celebrity mentors who recognize both artistic value and market scalability.

On the show, dmodot received praise from the judges for its meticulous design process, inclusive sizing (ranging from 36–50), and brand positioning that balances heritage with high fashion.

“Abhishek’s brand reflects the kind of business India needs — design-driven, scalable, and proudly rooted in Indian craft,” said Malaika Arora during the episode.

    About dmodot:

Founded in 2016 by Abhishek Sharma, dmodot is a Delhi-based handcrafted footwear brand redefining Indian luxury through comfort, craftsmanship, and conscious design. The brand’s collections — from formal loafers and mules to festive mojris and sneakers — blend timeless Indian techniques with modern silhouettes.

    Future Roadmap:

With this investment, dmodot plans to:

    • Open exclusive experience studios in Delhi and Mumbai by mid-2025.
    • Expand its international e-commerce operations across UAE, UK, and Singapore.
    • Collaborate with Indian designers for limited-edition collections.
    • Double its production capacity while maintaining artisan-led craftsmanship.
