Indian finance news today is set for a cautious start as investors track Tata Motors, TCS, Mazagon Dock and Lupin, alongside IPO activity, rupee movement, RBI intervention, FII flows and crude oil prices near $97 a barrel. Middle East tensions and expectations of a US Fed rate hike remain key global risks, while strong domestic liquidity and ongoing capital-market activity could provide some support to equities.
TCS Announces Major AI Infrastructure Investment
Tata Consultancy Services is also in focus after its subsidiary HyperVault announced plans to develop a 1-gigawatt AI data-centre campus in Telangana. TCS and its partners plan to invest up to Rs 70,000 crore, or about $7.4 billion, in the project, which will be developed on a 264-acre site in Hyderabad. TCS CEO and Managing Director K. Krithivasan said the project brings together AI-ready infrastructure with TCS capabilities in cloud, engineering, enterprise transformation and AI, while highlighting Hyderabad’s talent and technology ecosystem.
Tata Motors Launches Iveco Tender Offer
Tata Motors is among the biggest corporate developments in focus after formally launching a voluntary all-cash tender offer to acquire all common shares of Italian commercial vehicle maker Iveco Group. The offer is priced at €14.10 per share and values Iveco at approximately €3.82 billion. The acceptance period begins today, September 7, and will run until October 26, 2026. The acquisition is aimed at strengthening Tata Motors’ global commercial-vehicle presence and expanding its European footprint. Girish Wagh, Managing Director and CEO of Tata Motors stated, "The tender offer is a key milestone for combining two complementary organizations' capabilities and market presence to create a stronger and globally competitive commercial vehicle business."
Mazagon Dock in the Spotlight
Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders is another key defence stock on Monday’s watch list. The company has indicated plans to secure two major new orders during FY27, which could strengthen its order pipeline and support its longer-term growth outlook. Defence-sector companies remain closely watched as government spending and naval-capability expansion continue.
Lupin Draws Investor Attention
Pharmaceutical major Lupin is also among the stocks expected to remain in focus today. The company appears on multiple Monday stock-watch lists as investors assess fresh developments in the pharmaceutical sector alongside broader market volatility.
Markets Face Cautious Opening
Indian equities are expected to begin the week cautiously. GIFT Nifty indicated a slightly weaker opening, while the Nifty ended the previous week at 23,897.70 after declining 1.15% during the week. The Sensex also fell nearly 1%, marking continued pressure on domestic benchmarks. Investors will watch the 23,800–23,750 zone as an important support area.
Rupee Gets RBI Support
The Indian rupee is expected to open relatively stable around Rs 94.46–Rs 94.50 per dollar. The currency gained nearly 1% last week, helped by sustained RBI intervention. However, higher crude prices and expectations of tighter US monetary policy remain potential sources of pressure. Reuters reported that the RBI’s intervention has helped cushion the currency from external shocks.
Crude Oil Climbs Towards $97
Brent crude has risen close to $97 a barrel as tensions involving the US and Iran raise concerns about disruptions around the Strait of Hormuz. Higher oil prices remain a major risk for India because they can increase the import bill, put pressure on the rupee and add to inflationary pressures.
Foreign Investors Remain Cautious
Foreign portfolio investors remained sellers at the end of last week, offloading about Rs 3,111.94 crore of Indian equities on Friday. Domestic institutional investors provided a significant counterbalance, buying around Rs 8,930.12 crore. The contrasting flows remain an important factor for market direction as global risk appetite weakens.
NSE Changes Pre-open Trading Rules
A significant market-structure change takes effect today, with the NSE revising its pre-open auction framework. The 9:00–9:15 am session remains unchanged, but market orders will be permitted only during the first five minutes. Limit-order entry continues until the order-entry period closes, followed by order matching and a buffer period. Gold and silver ETFs will also participate in the pre-open session for the first time.
IPO Activity Remains Strong
India’s primary market continues to attract attention, with Apana Logistics opening its IPO for subscription today. The three-day issue will give investors an opportunity to participate in the latest offering as the IPO pipeline remains active. The broader market is also awaiting the proposed NSE IPO, after SEBI cleared the exchange’s offer document last week.

Market Outlook
Indian markets are likely to remain volatile and stock-specific today, with Tata Motors, TCS, Mazagon Dock and Lupin among the companies in focus. TCS’s major AI infrastructure investment and Tata Motors’ Iveco acquisition provide significant corporate triggers, while K. Krithivasan remains a key company executive in focus following the AI data-centre announcement.
On the broader front, investors will closely monitor crude oil near $97, the rupee, RBI intervention, FII flows, US interest-rate expectations and Middle East developments. The strong performance of Asian technology stocks offers some support, but higher oil prices and geopolitical risks could continue to limit gains
