India Finance News: Top Market & Corporate Updates Today

Finance Outlook India Team | Tuesday, 04 August 2026

Indian finance news today are set for a cautious market start on Tuesday after a sharp four-day rally, as investors turn their focus to the ongoing RBI Monetary Policy Committee meeting, a fresh batch of Q1 corporate earnings, and mixed global cues. Gift Nifty futures signalled a flat opening, down marginally by 21 points to 24,647.50, while crude oil prices held largely steady after their recent slide. From banking and insurance to real estate and renewables, several important corporate and macroeconomic developments are shaping today's financial updates.

RBI MPC Meeting Enters Final Day, Decision Due Tomorrow

The Reserve Bank of India's Monetary Policy Committee, which began its three-day review on August 3, is set to announce its rate decision on August 5, with Governor Sanjay Malhotra scheduled to address the media at 12 pm following the announcement at 10 am. Most economists expect the central bank to leave the repo rate unchanged at 5.25% for a fourth consecutive meeting, citing a stable domestic inflation trajectory alongside lingering global geopolitical uncertainty. A poll indicated a broad consensus among economists that the RBI will maintain a cautious, data-dependent stance rather than move on rates this cycle.

LIC Stake Sale via OFS Opens Today

The government has launched a two-day offer for sale (OFS) to divest a 6.5% stake in Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), with the floor price fixed at Rs 382 per share. The stake sale opened on Tuesday and will remain a key event for market participants tracking the insurance major's stock through the week.

DLF Reports 4% Rise in Q1 Net Profit

Real estate major DLF posted a 4% year-on-year rise in consolidated net profit to Rs 793.9 crore for the June quarter of FY27, even as the company continues to expand its housing and commercial portfolio. The results come amid a broader wave of Q1 earnings from real estate and infrastructure-linked companies this week. Chairman Rajiv Singh, DLF noted, " The demonstrated track record allow us to take advantage of these opportunities in future, while maintaining a cautious approach."

Bharti Airtel Earnings in Focus Today

Bharti Airtel is among the key companies scheduled to report its Q1 results today, alongside BSE, Deepak Nitrite, Godrej Properties, Emami, Kalyan Jewellers, MCX, Marico, Nykaa, ONGC, PNB Housing and United Breweries. Analysts widely expect Airtel to report around 15% revenue growth for the quarter, with average revenue per user (ARPU) likely to see a modest uptick as well.

IREDA Posts 37% Jump in Quarterly Profit

Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA) reported a 37% year-on-year rise in net profit to Rs 339 crore, up from Rs 247 crore in the same period last year, supported by stronger income growth. The results reinforce continued momentum in India's renewable energy financing space.

Torrent Power Reports 11% Decline in Profit

Torrent Power posted an 11% year-on-year decline in net profit to Rs 662 crore for Q1 FY27, down from Rs 742 crore a year earlier, largely due to higher finance costs. Revenue from operations, however, grew 3% year-on-year to Rs 8,124 crore during the quarter.

Sensex, Nifty Set for a Breather After Four-Day Rally

Indian benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty, which had rallied for four straight sessions to hit their highest levels in five months, are expected to see a more subdued session today. Asian markets opened on a cautious note despite an overnight rally on Wall Street, where the Dow, S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 all ended sharply higher on US-Iran peace hopes and easing crude oil prices.

    Crude Oil Prices Rebound Slightly

After their sharp recent decline, oil prices edged higher in early trade today, with Brent crude futures rising 0.7% to $84.39 a barrel and US WTI crude trading near $80.95, as lingering supply-side risks kept prices supported despite the broader downward trend of recent sessions.

Gold and Silver Prices Ease Marginally

Domestic bullion prices softened slightly on Tuesday, with 24-carat gold slipping to Rs 14,421 per gram and 22-carat gold easing to Rs 13,219 per gram. Silver prices also moved lower, trading around Rs 2,34,900 per kilogram, reflecting largely steady domestic sentiment despite mixed global cues.

    Market Outlook

With the RBI's policy decision due tomorrow, a heavy Q1 earnings calendar this week, and global markets sending mixed signals, Indian equities are likely to remain range-bound and event-driven in the near term. Banking, insurance, real estate and renewable energy stocks are expected to stay in sharp focus as investors await further clarity from the central bank and continued corporate earnings through the week.
