Jio Platforms Shares List at Rs 1358 Deliver 21.36 percent Premium

Jio Platforms Shares List at Rs 1,358, Deliver 21.36% Premium

Finance Outlook India Team | Wednesday, 28 October 2026

Jio Platforms shares made a strong stock market debut on October 28, listing at Rs 1,358 on both the BSE and NSE, a premium of 21.36% over the issue price of Rs 1,119. The company's market capitalisation at the listing price was Rs 12.50 lakh crore, which was a huge milestone for the telecom and digital services business.

The Jio IPO listing was in line with the market expectations and the grey market premium (GMP) was over 22% in advance of the listing. But analysts warned that the valuation of the company already included a significant amount of its growth potential, and its performance after the listing will be an important metric for investors to watch.

    Key Highlights

    • Jio Platforms listed at Rs 1,358 on the BSE and NSE, delivering a 21.36% premium over its issue price.
    • The listing valued Jio Platforms at Rs 12.50 lakh crore, while a 12-share retail lot gained Rs 2,868.

Jio Platforms IPO Listing Gains: How Much Did Investors Make?

Jio Platforms shares listed at Rs 1358, up by Rs 239 from the issue price of Rs 1119. This resulted in a premium of 21.36% over the list prices.

It may be noted that the value of the investment stands at Rs 16,296 for the investors who had subscribed for minimum retail investment of 12 shares while issue investment was Rs 13,428. The difference was equal to a listing gain of Rs 2,868, excluding transaction charges and tax.

The opening price is used as a benchmark for allotment recipients to gauge their returns. But the potential gain or loss for the investors will depend on the sale price when they decide to exit and the subsequent market movements.

Jio IPO GMP vs Actual Listing Price

Ahead of the market debut, Jio Platforms shares commanded a grey market premium of Rs 248 at the time of reporting. This indicated an estimated listing price of Rs 1,367 and a potential premium of 22.16% over the issue price.

The actual listing price of Rs 1,358 was Rs 9 below that estimate, although it remained above the 20% premium that some analysts had anticipated.

GMP is an unofficial indicator and does not guarantee the price at which a stock will list. The actual exchange price remains the relevant benchmark for calculating listing gains.

Jio Platforms IPO Subscription and Issue Details

Jio Platforms IPO of Rs 30,213-crore opened on October 21 and will run through October 23, 2026. According to the reported figures, the overall subscription for the issue was 22.19 times.

438.26 crore shares were bid for and 19.75 crore shares were offered for, with the upper end of the price band getting around Rs 4.90 lakh crore. Some 1.38 crore applications were received for the IPO, which recorded a record number of investor applications, while the total number of bids, including the demand of anchor investors, was estimated to be around Rs 7.4 lakh crore.

The price range of the issue was Rs 1,065 to Rs 1,119. As of now, Jio Platforms intends to spend Rs 27,500 crore from the fresh issue proceeds to repay the borrowings of its subsidiary, Reliance Jio Infocomm. The repayment is anticipated to boost its balance sheet as it continues to accelerate the growth of its telecom and digital business.

Jio Platforms Market Capitalisation and Reliance Industries Share Price

Jio Platforms market cap at the listing price was Rs 12.50 lakh crore. The valuation positions the company in the top tier of the listed businesses in India's telecom and digital services industry.

Meanwhile, the share price of parent Reliance Industries was down 0.46% at Rs 1,194.50 on the BSE at the time of the report. The market value of the company's shares was Rs 16.15 lakh crore.

The contrasting movements reflect the difference between the listing of Jio Platforms and share performance of Reliance Industries, as distinct market events. Investors should look at the individual company's performance, value and prospects.

What Analysts Said About Jio Platforms After Listing

Abhinav Tiwari, senior research analyst at Bonanza, had expected Jio Platforms to list at a premium of around 20% to its issue valuation of approximately Rs 10.3 lakh crore.

Tiwari said investors primarily seeking listing gains could consider booking partial profits, while those with a long-term investment horizon could remain invested. Investors who missed the IPO could watch for a potential entry opportunity if the stock corrected after listing.

Sarvam Goel, founder of Pocketful, expected the debut to attract strong investor interest, supported by Jio’s large subscriber base, telecom leadership and expanding digital businesses. However, he cautioned that a significant portion of the company’s future growth potential might already be reflected in its valuation.

These views represent analyst opinions rather than guaranteed outcomes. Investors should consider their own investment horizon, risk tolerance and the company’s financial disclosures before making decisions.

What Should Investors Watch After the Jio IPO Listing?

Investors after the debut could be looking at the financial performance of Jio Platforms and its business growth, as well as its ability to maintain its listing premium. Some of the key metrics to watch are telecom revenue, subscriber movements, average revenue per user (ARPU), broadband expansion and monetization of digital services.

Another development to keep a close watch on is the scheduled repayment of Rs 27,500 crore debt of Reliance Jio Infocomm as the firm is bolstering its balance sheet. Investors should also consider the future earnings growth that backs the valuation set at the time of listing.

The first day's performance was positive with the stock premiuming 21.36% over the issue price, but its future move will be subject to business performance, earnings growth, valuation and overall market sentiments.
