    Nemetschek & IIT-M Sign MoU on Lean Build Research with $100K Funding

    Nemetschek Group, a global leader in digital transformation solutions for the Architecture, Engineering, Construction, and Operations (AEC/O) industries, announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) to establish a platinum membership research partnership under the Centre of Excellence “Technologies for Low-Carbon and Lean Construction (TLC2).” This partnership is funded by Nemetschek Group’s AI and Data Innovation Hub.

    The signing ceremony was held at IIT Madras and attended by Pete Nicholson, Senior Vice President - High Growth Regions, Raghi Iyengar, Vice President - Manufacton Business & Deepankar Bhattacharya, Sr. General Manager - Education of Nemetschek Group & senior faculty members including Prof. Ashwin Mahalingam, Dean (Alumni & Corporate Relations) & Professor of Civil Engineering, Prof. Koshy Varghese, Professor of Civil Engineering, Prof. Manu Santhanam, Dean (Industrial Consultancy & Sponsored Research).

    Pete Nicholson, Senior Vice President of Key Accounts and High Growth Regions at Nemetschek Group, said, "This partnership with IIT Madras highlights Nemetschek’s commitment to advancing innovation and sustainable development in India’s construction sector. By combining applied research in low-carbon and lean construction with powerful AI technologies, we aim to accelerate productivity, efficiency, and sustainability—essential for meeting the demands of India’s extensive infrastructure investments and ensuring a future-ready construction ecosystem across the country."

    Charles Sheridan, Chief AI and Data Officer, Nemetschek Group, added, "Our investment in the TLC2 Centre of Excellence reflects Nemetschek’s dedication to integrating cutting-edge AI and sustainable technologies in construction. Collaborations like this empower us to co-create impactful solutions, leverage academic excellence, and accelerate digital transformation in the Indian AEC industry."

    The partnership will encompass diverse areas of collaboration, including joint research projects, advisory and visiting appointments, employee continuing education, curriculum development support integrating Nemetschek’s digital tools with civil engineering programs, short-term training programs, potential presence in IIT Madras Research Park, and campus recruitment opportunities for IITM students.

This initiative follows Nemetschek’s existing collaborations with CIFE, Stanford, and NTU Singapore, further cementing its role as a leader in the digitalization of the built environment.
