PM Narendra Modi on Monday said that despite the whole world being engaged in conflicts and facing disrupted supply chains, India's economy registered an impressive GDP growth of 7.8%. He credited citizens for this achievement, calling it a "demonstration of collective responsibility."
Key Highlights
- India registered 7.8% GDP growth in Q1 FY27, surpassing RBI's 7% forecast despite global conflicts and disruptions.
- Real GDP rose to Rs 81.36 lakh crore, while nominal GDP grew 10.3% to Rs 88.27 lakh crore.
"The world today is beset by conflicts and crises, with news of war emerging from all directions and global supply chains facing severe disruptions. Since the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, stability has remained elusive across much of the world. Yet, India has continued to move forward and make rapid progress," the PM Narendra Modi said in a video message posted on X.
"Heartiest congratulations to my fellow citizens. India's 7.8% growth rate is a moment of great joy for the nation. I congratulate the people of the country for their determination and hard work, which reflect our collective strength," he added.
PM Calls for Maintaining Growth Momentum
PM Narendra Modi also called for sustaining this GDP growth momentum going forward, while criticising those he said were spreading despair among citizens. "Meanwhile, there are some within the country who remain trapped in pessimism, spreading falsehoods and attempting to create an atmosphere of despair. Rising above these challenges and overcoming such obstacles, the nation has achieved a growth rate of 7.8%. We must sustain this momentum and continue moving forward. For that, building an Atmanirbhar Bharat is essential," he said.
