State-owned oil marketing companies (OMCs) have slashed the price of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinders by Rs 183.50, bringing much relief to businesses nationwide in India starting from July 1, 2026. The updated version will be likely to help reduce the cost of operating hotels, restaurants, caterers, and other commercial buildings which are heavily reliant on LPG for their day to day operations. However, the prices of 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinders remain unchanged.
Key Highlights
- Commercial LPG cylinder prices reduced by Rs 183.50 from July 1.
- Domestic LPG cylinder prices remain unchanged despite significant reduction in commercial cooking gas rates.

After the price hike, 9-kg commercial LPG cylinder in Delhi is going to be Rs 2,930, Rs 2,884 in Mumbai, Rs 3,072 in Kolkata, Rs 3,021 in Bebgaluru and Rs 3,099 in Chennai. The new rates will take effect from July 1, 2026, under the fuel price review process by the oil marketing companies.
The lower price comes after a number of months of high commercial LPG prices due to supply fears in the face of geopolitical uncertainty in West Asia. In the past few months, the shipping disruption caused by the conflict and uncertainty in the Strait of Hormuz caused commercial cylinder prices to rise, raising costs for businesses in various sectors in the region. Since prices rose in 2025, energy market pressures have subsided and global supply conditions have improved, leading to price decreases by OMCs for the first time in 2026, providing the first major relief for commercial users of energy.

However, prices to commercial consumers have been reduced significantly, whilst domestic LPG prices have not been adjusted. A 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder continues to cost Rs 942 in Delhi, Rs 941.50 in Mumbai, Rs 968 in Kolkata, Rs 944 and Rs 957.50 in Chennai. Domestic LPG prices are city specific as taxes, transportation cost and dealer commission varies across the cities but OMCs have kept the same prices in the latest revision of the month.
Meanwhile, private fuel seller Nayara Energy recently announced a petrol price cut of Rs 5 a litre and diesel price cut of Rs 3 a litre at its retail outlets due to "softer" international crude oil prices. Public sector fuel retailers like Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (HPCL) have, however, retained the existing petrol and diesel prices.
The recent reduction in commercial LPG prices should offer some significant relief to the hospitality, food service, catering sector, and the domestic LPG price remains stable, so that there will be no immediate effect on household cooking fuel costs.
