Astra Security, a security platform based in Delhi, has secured $2.7 million in a growth capital round led by Emergent Ventures, with participation from Neon Fund, Better Capital, Blume Ventures, and PointOne Capital.

The company raised $120K in a seed round from Techstars and other investors in 2018. New funds would aim to accelerate product development to improve identifying vulnerabilities in the cloud environment and enhance focusing on AI to help developers and security engineers build security detections, the report said.

Astra Security, a cybersecurity SaaS company, was founded in 2018 by Shikhil Sharma and Ananda Krishna, which simplifies complex penetration testing through its Pentest Platform. The AI-powered vulnerability-scanning engine mimics the behavior of a hacker to conduct over 10,000 security tests on applications.

Its AI-powered vulnerability scanning engine mimics hacker behavior to perform over 10,000 security tests on applications. The platform enables businesses to quickly address vulnerabilities and transition from DevOps to DevSecOps through its CI/CD integrations.

In the previous year, Astra uncovered nearly 5,500 vulnerabilities daily for its clients using its AI-powered pentest platform, with the number expected to triple by year-end. Over 25% of its clients were mid-sized and large companies, including Loom, HackerRank, ITC, Olx Autos, Mamaearth, Muthoot Finance, Bonusly, Singapore Trade Exchange, Oscilar, the University of Cambridge, CompTIA, and Prime Healthcare.

Astra reports that more than 800 engineering teams in over 70 countries utilize its AI-powered platform, which continuously simulates hacker behavior to quickly detect vulnerabilities in applications. This platform includes PTaaS (Penetration Testing as a Service), a DAST vulnerability scanner, and an API Security Platform, collectively identifying over 13,000 vulnerabilities.

Last year, Astra assisted its customers in identifying and addressing over two million vulnerabilities, saving them more than $69 million in potential security losses.
