Hinduja Commits ₹2,500 Crore to Tamil Nadu
The Hinduja Group has signed an MoU with the Tamil Nadu government for a ₹2,500 crore investment commitment spanning renewable energy, electric mobility, automotive, financial services, energy, battery-charging infrastructure and digital mobility solutions.
Amit Saharia, Group President–Strategy at Hinduja Group, signed the agreement with Deepak Jacob, Managing Director and CEO of Guidance Industries, Investment Promotion and Commerce Department, Tamil Nadu.
Ashok Hinduja, Chairman of Hinduja Group of Companies (India), said the commitment reflects the group's confidence in Tamil Nadu’s industrial base, talent pool and renewable energy potential. He also linked the investment to clean energy, electric mobility and the state’s next phase of growth.
The latest commitment strengthens Tamil Nadu’s investment pipeline across several emerging industries instead of concentrating the group’s capital in a single sector.
Renewable Energy Forms a Major Part of the Plan
Hinduja Renewables Energy Pvt Ltd will develop more than 200 MW of renewable energy projects across solar, wind and battery technologies. The company will seek land and connectivity support across identified catchment areas, including Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Virudhunagar, Madurai and Coimbatore.
The renewable energy programme adds a clean-energy dimension to Tamil Nadu’s investment growth. It also aligns the Hinduja Group’s planned capital deployment with the state’s broader efforts to expand renewable power and support energy-intensive industries.
Electric Mobility Adds Another Growth Engine
Electric mobility represents another key component of the ₹2,500 crore commitment. OHM Global Mobility Ltd will operationalise electric buses for public transport in Tamil Nadu and expand its mobility solutions value chain. The group will also explore opportunities in battery-charging infrastructure and digital mobility solutions.
This investment adds to the Hinduja Group’s existing mobility presence in the state and creates opportunities across vehicles, charging infrastructure and supporting services. It also strengthens the connection between Tamil Nadu’s automotive manufacturing base and its emerging electric-mobility ecosystem.
Tamil Nadu’s Wider Investment Push Gains Momentum
The Hinduja announcement comes alongside a broader investment drive in Tamil Nadu. The state signed agreements worth ₹150.5 billion for 16 projects involving overseas investors, including Saint-Gobain, Super Micro Computer and Daimler India Commercial Vehicles.
Across the wider investment initiative, Tamil Nadu signed 97 agreements worth ₹674.52 billion, with projects expected to generate more than 100,000 jobs. The projects span multiple sectors, reinforcing the state’s manufacturing and industrial expansion.
Against this backdrop, the Hinduja commitment gives Tamil Nadu’s investment story another significant domestic corporate component, particularly across renewable energy and electric mobility.
What the Hinduja Investment Means for Tamil Nadu
The ₹2,500 crore commitment expands Tamil Nadu’s pipeline across renewable energy, electric mobility, automotive and digital mobility. The planned 200-plus MW renewable portfolio and electric-bus deployment also connect industrial investment with the state’s clean-energy and transportation priorities.
For Tamil Nadu, the Hinduja commitment adds fresh capital to an already expanding investment pipeline. For the group, the plan creates a broader platform across clean energy and next-generation mobility while deepening its long-standing presence in the state.
