The education company Imarticus Learning announced that it has acquired MyCaptain, an edtech startup, for a valuation of approximately $6 million (around Rs 50 crore), representing the fourth acquisition in four years. Imarticus Learning expansion strategy increases the number of employees at Imarticus Learning to over 850, including a growing group of ex-founders, further developing a seasoned team of entrepreneurs.
MyCaptain was founded in 2016 by Mohammed Zeeshan, Sameer Ramesh, and Ruhan Naqash, the startup enables individuals to explore and pursue careers based on their passions. MyCaptain creates student engagements with a group of young achievers in various career paths, offering mentorship and career support in creative and entrepreneurial careers.
MyCaptain has an excellent reach to more than 1,500 campuses, with 60 percent of customers from tier 2 and 3 cities, and 80 percent of users from creative and entrepreneurial education. MyCaptain has raised $4.7 million in funding from a number of investors, including Ankur Capital, Firstport Ventures, Inflection Point Ventures and the Singapore Angel Network.
MyCaptain identifies that last year it generated Rs. 27 crore in revenue, achieving startup breakeven EBITDA in India.

The acquisition will give Imarticus Learning access to MyCaptain’s employability bootcamps for burgeoning career tracks such as Digital Marketing, Content, and Design, across 20+ classroom centres in 16+ cities. Imarticus strives to expand its activity in tier 2 and tier 3 cities and reach 5 million learners in the next 3 years.
Notable past acquisitions by Imarticus have included game-based learning platform StratOnBoard in 2022, social learning platform Eckovation in 2021, and Hero Group's training arm Hero Mindmine in April 2023.
Commenting on the acquisition, Nikhil Barshikar, Founder and CEO of Imarticus Learning, said, “While previous acquisitions have helped us diversify our portfolio and address evolving learner needs, with MyCaptain, we aim to deepen accessibility in non-tech career domains and significantly expand our reach in tier 2+ cities.”
