Key Highlights

- Revenue increased 14% to ₹5,661 crore in the September quarter.
- JM Financial and Elara Capital maintained positive ratings but lowered their target prices.
Q2 Result: Profit Growth and Margin Outlook
Tata Consumer Products reported consolidated net profit of ₹470 crore, up 15.7% year-on-year (YoY). Revenue grew 14% to ₹5,661 crore, driven by sustained momentum in growth businesses such as Sampann and NourishCo, along with better-than-expected growth in the salt business.
Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) margin stood at 13.8%, compared with 13.5% in the year-ago quarter. JM Financial said the margin performance was in line with expectations, as weaker margins in India were offset by improved profitability in international and non-branded businesses.
The company has implemented calibrated tea price hikes of 8–10% since the first quarter of FY27 to address cost inflation. It also raised salt prices by 13% to pass on higher input costs.
Elara Capital expects improving margins in the international business and stronger growth in Capital Foods to support expansion. Management is also focused on improving margins in FY27, with expectations of a 40-basis-point increase.
JM Financial expects the full impact of tea and salt price hikes to become visible in the third quarter of FY27. Stable profitability in international and non-branded businesses could further support margin recovery.

Should You Buy Tata Consumer Products Shares?
Brokerages remain constructive on Tata Consumer Products, although they have reduced their price targets due to margin concerns, input cost pressures, and a broader valuation correction across the consumer sector.
JM Financial lowered its target price to ₹1,065 from ₹1,225 and reduced its target valuation multiple to 43 times from 52 times. It maintained an ADD rating, noting that the stock had corrected around 18% over the previous three months. The brokerage said valuations below their long-term average limit further downside, while recovery in India's margins remains a key factor to monitor.
Elara Capital maintained its ACCUMULATE rating but cut its target price to ₹1,080 from ₹1,290. It also raised its earnings-per-share estimates by 1.3%, 1.5%, and 1.9% for FY27, FY28, and FY29, respectively.
SBI Securities also sees a constructive near-term outlook, supported by growth in key categories, distribution expansion, and product innovation. However, tea demand recovery and input cost pressures remain important factors to watch.
While the Q2 result has supported the stock, sustained margin recovery will be crucial to the company's future performance.
